About Joanna Wuest

Joanna Wuest studies the politics of science, identity and inequality. At Princeton University, she holds the Fund for Reunion-Cotsen Postdoctoral Fellowship in LGBT Studies in the Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts. Her published work has appeared in nonsite, Politics & Gender, the Nation, Jacobin, and the Philadelphia Inquirer. She is currently writing a book titled Born This Way: Science, Citizenship, and Inequality in the American LGBTQ Movement. That work is an account of the legal, political, and scientific forces that have produced bio-essentialist forms of sexual and gender identities in the U.S. since the mid-twentieth century.
