About Lorna Crozier

Lorna Crozier has received the Governal General’s, the Canadian Authors’ Association, two Pat Lowther Awards for poetry, the 2011 Kloeppenburg Award for Literary Excellence and five honourary doctorates for her contribution to Canadian literature. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and an Officer of the Order of Canada, she has published 17 books of poetry, the latest two called "The Wrong Cat" and "The Wild in You: Voices from the Forest and the Sea," a collaboration with the photographer Ian McAllister. Her memoir, "Small Beneath the Sky," was included on Amazon’s list of the 100 books one should read in a lifetime, and "The Book of Marvels: A Compendium of Everyday Things" was one of The Globe and Mail’s top 100 books of 2012. In 2013 she received B.C.’s Lieutenant’s Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence. Her poems have been translated into several languages, including a book-length translation in French and another in Spanish, and she has read in every continent, except Antarctica. A Professor Emeritus at the University of Victoria, she lives on Vancouver Island with Patrick Lane, two turtles, many fish and two fine cats.
